Leading Lesson Study for the Common Core State Standards
Friday – Saturday, May 3 & 4, 2013
Prieto Math and Science Academy,
2231 N. Central, Chicago, IL
CPDUs will be available for Illinois teachers
Implementation of the Common Core State Standards will only be effective if school communities work together to achieve it. Lesson study helps create a common vision of the CCSS content standards and shared ideas for developing the mathematical practices in students.
This year's conference will highlight the work of two schools in Chicago that are using lesson study to address the Common Core Standards. It will feature three elementary mathematics research lessons along with invited talks by experts in lesson study and elementary mathematics, including Drs. Akihiko Takahashi of DePaul University, Tad Watanabe of Kennesaw State University, Makoto Yoshida of William Paterson University, and Toshiakira Fujii of Tokyo Gakugei University in Japan.
